The Supreme Court of Ukraine declared the ban on the Russian-language cultural product in Lviv region legal, not satisfying the cassation appeal of the public organization “Ukrainian Choice – the Right of the People.”

“The cassation appeal of the public organization ‘All-Ukrainian Public Movement “Ukrainian Choice – the Right of the People’ is to be rejected, the cassation appeal of the Lviv Regional Council is to be satisfied, the decision of the Lviv Regional Administrative Court of January 16, 2019, and the decision of the Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal of May 14, 2019, regarding satisfied claims requirements is to be canceled, and should be accepted in this part of requirements, which deny the claim. In another part, the decision of the Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal of May 14, 2019, is to be upheld,” the Supreme Court decision of August 15 says.

The decision comes into force from the date of its adoption, is final and not subject to an appeal.

As reported, the decision “to establish a moratorium on the public use of the Russian-language cultural product in any form on the territory of Lviv region until the occupation of Ukraine is completely ceased” was adopted on September 18, 2018, by deputies of the Lviv Regional Council.
