You're reading: Survey: 5 parties to overcome 5 percent barrier for entry to Rada

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s Servant of the People Party is the most popular among political forces, followed by Opposition Platform – for Life and Bloc of Petro Poroshenko (BPP) “Solidarity” according to a survey conducted by Sociological Group Rating.

Answering the question, “If parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, how would you vote?” 43.8 percent supported Servant of the People and among respondents who intend to vote and have decided whom to support there is 33.8 percent.

Some 10.5 percent of respondents are ready to vote (of 8.1 percent of all respondents) support Yuriy Boiko’s Opposition Bloc – for Life, followed by ex-President Petro Poroshenko’s BPP, Yulia Tymoshenko’s Batkivschyna Party – 7.3 percent (5.5 percent), ex-SBU State Security Chief Ihor Smeshko’s Strength and Honor Party – 5.1 percent (3.8 percent).

Sviatoslav Vakarchuk’s Holos Party – 4.6 percent (3.4 percent), Radical Party of Oleh Lyashko – 3.3 percent (2.5 percent) and Opposition Bloc – 3.2 percent(2.4 percent) would not surpass the current 5 percent barrier for entering parliament. Other parties would receive less than 3 percent.

Some 15.3 percent of respondents had difficulty answering the question, while 8.9 percent said they would not vote.

The survey showed Servant of the People Party is leading in all macro-regions of the country with Opposition Platform – for Life and Opposition Bloc holding strong positions in Ukraine’s southeastern regions. Other parties, which have a chance of entering parliament, are supported in the country’s central and western regions.

The survey was conducted from May 16 to May 21, 2019, among Ukrainians aged 18 and older. Some 2,000 persons took part via face-to-face interview. The sampling was representative of age, gender, region and type of settlement. The margin of error of poll results does not exceed 2.2 percent.
