Ukraine has set up a system to counter anti-Ukrainian television broadcasts and Russia information aggression in the Donbas war zone in the east of the country.

The system was launched on April 19 by President Petro Poroshenko live from a war cabinet meeting, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

According to a report from the Donbas war zone, the system’s equipment was placed along the dividing line in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

“The system blocks analogue and digital television signals received from the uncontrolled areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, blocking in particular over 40 Russian and separatist television channels. The system will become an efficient tool of countering information expansion and the spread of Russian propaganda in the Donbas war zone,” the reporting general said.

With the system now in place, the Ukrainians living in 150 towns across Donbas fall under the “information protection,” he said.

“The system’s equipment meets modern requirements for energy efficiency and environmental safety,” the general said.
