You're reading: Talks on FTA conclusion between Ukraine, Israel to be finalized before year end

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko at the initiative of the Israeli side, has held a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which the parties discussed the importance of further building up of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

“In this context, the parties confirmed willingness to complete negotiations on conclusion of the FTA Agreement between Ukraine and Israel by the end of 2017,” the presidential press service said on May 3.

The parties discussed content of the visit of Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman to Israel in May.

The leaders of the two states discussed topical issues of cooperation within the framework of international organizations.

“In this context, Netanyahu expressed sincere gratitude for a constructive and friendly position of Ukraine in the framework of the UN,” a report says.

As reported, on May 3 Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko during a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu invited the latter to visit Ukraine at his convenience and said he is looking forward to the upcoming visit of Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman to Israel.

Poroshenko greeted Netanyahu on the 69th anniversary of the Independence Day of Israel.

In addition, the two confirmed mutual willingness to intensify bilateral cooperation in various areas, including interaction within international organizations.

The President of Ukraine also informed Netanyahu about the signing of the law on the ratification of the Ukrainian-Israeli agreement on joint production of films and cooperation in the field of cinematography.
