You're reading: The New York Times corrects picture of map of Ukraine without Crimea

The New York Times corrected a picture of the map of Ukraine without Crimea in an article about a Ukrainian businessman Ihor Kolomoisky.

The edition mentioned this in the list of corrected publications issued through the week.

“In the article about the plans of the Ukrainian oligarch to create a ski resort, Crimea was depicted separately from Ukraine on the map of the country. The dotted line on the map was to mark the zone that was annexed by Russia in 2014,” the edition reported.

Previously, the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington called on The New York Times, which published a map of Ukraine without Crimea, to correct the mistake and “not to play the game of Russian information propaganda”. Now on the corrected image Crimea is the same color as the mainland of Ukraine, and the border of the Russia occupied zone is marked with a dotted line.
