Tourist flow from Ukraine to Georgia in 2016 grew by 21.8 percent compared to 2015, to 172,631 people.

Georgian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikheil Ukleba said at a meeting of the Tourism Press Club of Ukraine, some 6.35 million tourists visited Georgia in 2016, and this is 7.6 percent more than in 2015.

The top countries which tourists visited Georgia was Azerbaijan with 1.523 million (a rise of 9.3 percent), Armenia with 1.496 million (a rise of 1.9 percent), Turkey with 1.254 million (a fall of 9.9 percent), Russia with 1.037 million (a rise of 12 percent) and Ukraine.

He also recalled that according to Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, profit from tourism in Georgia in 2016 exceeded $2 billion.

Earlier Director of Tourism Development Center in Ukraine Volodymyr Tsaruk said that tourist flow from Ukraine to Georgia in 2015 grew by 15-20 percent compared to 2014 when over 120,000 Ukrainians visited the country.
