You're reading: Trilateral Contact Group gathers in Minsk

The Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on Ukraine has begun a meeting in Minsk, Darka Olifer, spokeswoman for Ukraine’s second president and the country’s representative in the TCG, Leonid Kuchma, have reported via Facebook.

The previous session of the TCG was on July 25. The Organization for Security and Co-Operation in Europe’s special representative in the contact group on Ukraine said that the meeting produced some positive results. Members discussed matters affecting Donetsk Oblast and Lugansk Oblast, including restoring Vodafone Ukraine mobile service in certain parts of the region, payment of pensions, and water supply.

However, the Russian side refused to discuss the issue of a prisoner exchange–the possibility of which both Ukraine and its international partners have been pressing Russia since the last exchange in Dec. 2017.

Topics of today’s Minsk talks have yet to be disclosed.
