You're reading: Trump adviser Bolton to visit Ukraine

White House National Security Adviser John Bolton will visit Ukraine next week and meet with the officials, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters on Aug. 14.

Simultaneously, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly posted on his Facebook page that “a representative of U. S. President Donald Trump will attend the Independence Day parade (on Aug. 24).” He didn’t name Bolton, however.

As part of his trip, Bolton will also visit Israel and meet with Russian officials in Geneva as a follow-up to the Helsinki summit between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Sanders said.

After a joint briefing with Putin on July 16 in the Finnish capital, Trump sparked widespread condemnation for being too soft on Russia for interfering in the 2016 U.S. presidential elections, appearing to take the side of Putin over U.S. intelligence agencies.
