You're reading: Turchynov, NATO advisors group discuss deepening of Ukraine-NATO cooperation in military-technical sphere, cyber security

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksandr Turchynov, during a meeting in Kyiv on November 2 with a group of foreign strategic advisors from NATO member countries, discussed the expansion of Ukraine’s cooperation with the member countries of the Alliance in a number of directions.

“During the meeting, cooperation in the defense and security sector was discussed. Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine stressed that, despite Russia’s hybrid war against Ukraine, the process of strengthening our defense capabilities and reforming the security and defense sector of Ukraine in accordance with the NATO standards is ongoing. During the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of deepening Ukraine-NATO cooperation in the military-technical, scientific and cyber security spheres,” the press service of the NSDC said.

Turchynov said the restoration of multilateral military-technical cooperation between Ukraine and the Alliance member countries is among the priorities.

Turchynov also said that over the past three years, the majority of Ukrainians have realized that NATO is one of the real tools for ensuring a reliable system of collective security both in Europe and throughout the world.

In their turn, the members of the delegation stated that NATO member countries support the reforms taking place in Ukraine and the aspirations of our state for Euro-Atlantic integration.

The delegation included: former Commander of the Central Command of the U.S. Armed Forces, retired general John Abizaid; former Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Lithuania, retired major general Jonas Andriskevicius; former Commander of the Land Forces of the United Kingdom, retired general Nick Parker; Executive Director of External Relations at the Canadian Defense Academy of the Ministry of National Defense, Jill Sinclair; former commander of the Joint German-Netherlands Corps, lieutenant-general (retired) Volker Halbauer; Commander of Multinational Corps Northeast, colonel-general Boguslaw Samol (the Republic of Poland).
