The National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine at the request of Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has scheduled an unplanned on-site check of the News 24 Hours Company (NewsOne, Kyiv) due to the channel’s latent calls to viewers to take aggressive actions, the Council said on Sept. 20.

“The council will check the NewsOne to find out whether the satellite television channel complies with the norms of current Ukrainian legislation, and after that will take an appropriate decision,” the Council’s press service said.

According to it, the council received a letter from the SBU about statements broadcast on the channel which echo Russian propaganda and contain hidden calls to the channel’s audience to engage in aggressive behavior.

The Council said the channel may have violated the laws “On Information” and “On Television and Radio Broadcasting.”

As earlier reported, in January, the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine scheduled check on NewsOne for propaganda about its coverage of the Revolution of Dignity and for popularizing the Russian Armed Forces.
