You're reading: Two managers of Ukrzaliznytsia detained while taking bribes

Officers of the economy protection department jointly with representatives of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine have detained one of the deputy directors of the Center for Service Provision of Ukrzaliznytsia while he was taking a Hr 85,000 bribe for helping to extend a fixed-term employment contract.

The press service of the department reported that later one more person was detained – assistant to the director of one of the divisions of the company.

“The officials offered a director of one of the departments Hr 85,000 of illegal profit, and the latter immediately notified the top managers about it. The implication of the deputy director of the branch and assistant director of one of the divisions of the enterprise was recorded during the steps taken to reveal this fact,” the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia reported, referring to the data from the National Police.

According to acting Board Chairman of Ukrzaliznytsia Yevhen Kravtsov, these events show that at present, the company has an effective system of internal counteraction to abuse and corruption that extends to everyone, regardless of the rank.

The abusers have been detained under Article 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine.

Criminal proceedings have been launched under Part 3 of Article 369 (giving a bribe to an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The investigation is underway.
