Two people died, another was injured as a result of a timber truck falling into a river in Kalush district of Ivano-Frankivsk region on Thursday evening, the regional police press service reported.

“On Thursday, May 20, at about 22:09 in the village of Shevchenkove, Vyhodska merged territorial community, a timber truck fell from a bridge into the river, in the cabin of which there were three people. Police, rescuers and doctors immediately arrived at the scene. The bodies of two victims were found and dragged by workers of the State Emergencies Service, another person was injured, doctors provided assistance to this person,” according to the message on the page of the police of Ivano-Frankivsk region on Facebook on May 21 night.

According to preliminary information, law enforcement officers established that the victims were a driver born in 1979 who is a resident of the village of Lolyn and a passenger born in 1994 who is a resident of the village of Pidlisky. Another passenger born in 1991 hospitalized in a medical facility.

“The cause of the accident will be established by investigation. Preliminary: the driver lost control and the KAMAZ fell from the bridge into the river,” the law enforcement officers said.

Investigators and forensic experts are working at the scene.
