Nearly 70 percent of Ukrainians do not believe President Petro Poroshenko is capable of stopping the war in Donbas, as is evident from a poll of 2,039 respondents older than 18 living in 110 populated areas of Ukraine that the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology conducted on November 4 to 13, 2016.

Asked whether they believed Poroshenko was capable of putting an end to the war, 16.4 percent of the respondents said yes, 68.1 percent no, and 15.5 percent were undecided.

Among residents of western regions of Ukraine, the share of Ukrainians believing Poroshenko can stop the war is 24.9 percent, while 58 percent doubt this.

Among residents of Donbas, only 7 percent are of the opinion that Poroshenko can stop the war, and 85.2 percent think he cannot do so.

In Luhansk and Donetsk regions, the poll was conducted only in the territories controlled by Kyiv.
