You're reading: Two Ukrainian soldiers killed in action in the Donbas

Two Ukrainian soldiers have been killed in combat over the previous 24 hours as low-intensity armed clashes continued along the frontline of the Donbas, Ukraine’s Joint Forces Operation press service reported early on Nov. 10.

In general, the military said, the Kremlin-backed militants committed nine ceasefire violations engaging small firearms, heavy machine guns, as well as various grenade launchers.

In three incidents, the enemy was spotted using heavy weapons banned under the 2015 Minsk II agreement during which representatives of Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia agreed on certain measures to alleviate Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Fresh armed clashes have been seen at usual hotspots of the occupied city of Donetsk (Avdiyivka), at the ruined Donetsk Airport (Pisky), near the Debaltseve area, and also northeast of Mariupol.

“A sniper was firing on our entrenchments near Krymske in (western Luhansk Oblast), being covered by supporting fire from grenade launchers and 82-millimeter mortars,” the morning military communique reads.

As a result of this engagement, Ukrainian soldiers were fatally wounded.

According to the intelligence report, enemy forces lost two militants killed in combat, and two more enemy combatants were wounded.

In the early hours of Nov. 11, only one shelling incident was registered near the Ukrainian-controlled village of Taramchuk south of Donetsk, with no casualties among Ukrainian ranks.

“The Joint Forces continue to serve in heavy-duty combat missions,” the military press service added.

“Defense armed formations are effectively holding their lines and positions and taking measures to save lives of military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and civilian population.”
