You're reading: Tymoshenko insists on early dissolution of Rada

The leader of the Batkivschyna faction, Yulia Tymoshenko, believes that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should dissolve the Verkhovna Rada as soon as possible.

“I believe that this Verkhovna Rada, the sooner it is dissolved, the better. People should draw a conclusion against the background of what this Verkhovna Rada is doing, and finally bring the Verkhovna Rada, which will not be so marginal and so anti-Ukrainian,” she said. Tymoshenko told reporters on Nov. 3 in Kyiv.

Answering a clarifying question whether the president has any grounds for dissolving parliament, the politician said: “I think that if the coalition breaks up – and I think that this will happen quickly enough – then this will be a constitutional basis for the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada, and this is the only basis for dissolution.”
