Ukraine International Airlines (UIA), the leading airline in the country and the key airline of the Boryspil International Airport (both based in Kyiv), has no plans to take the airport’s idle terminals on lease, Head of the UIA supervisory board Aron Maiberg said on the online conference on Liga.net portal last week.

“Never say ‘never,’ but we do not have these plans. We have a plan to build an airplane hangar. We do not have enough spots for servicing aircraft, especially when we start operating the Boeing 777,” he said.

He said that cooperation with the airport’s top managers is constructive. The airline and the airport are developing a hub in it, expanding flight destinations.

Boryspil International Airport is the main airport of Ukraine. The airport has two runways: one with a length of 4,000 meters and a width of 60 meters, and the second with a length of 3,500 meters and a width of 63 meters. Four passenger terminals, postal and cargo complexes are located on the territory of the airport.

UIA is the largest Ukrainian airline. Its base airport is Boryspil airport. The airline in 2016 received a net profit of Hr 387.885 million in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) against a net loss of Hr 504.923 million a year earlier.

At the moment there are 42 aircraft in the UIA fleet.

One of the ultimate beneficiaries of the airline is businessman Ihor Kolomoisky.
