You're reading: Ukraine Central Bank registers new regulations of PrivatBank

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has registered the new regulations of PrivatBank (Dnipro), Deputy Governor of the NBU Kateryna Rozhkova has said.

“The NBU has registered the regulations of PrivatBank and thanks to this the bank’s shares will be transferred to the Finance Ministry today. Tomorrow PrivatBank will be fully state-owned and with new managers,” she said at a press conference in Kyiv on Dec. 20.

She said that according to the procedure for transferring the shares to state ownership the Deposit Guarantee Fund fulfilled the technical function that cannot exceed three days under Ukrainian law. The term of temporary administration will expire late on Dec. 20.

As reported, the government under a proposal of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) and shareholders in PrivatBank on Dec. 18 made the decision to nationalize the financial institutions: the state would receive 100 percent of the bank’s capital, and the issue of government domestic loan bonds for this purpose is estimated at Hr 116.8-148 billion.

Former Finance Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Shlapak would head PrivatBank. He will form the new team of top managers.
