You're reading: Ukraine climbs 20 positions in road quality rating

Ukraine in 2020 climbed to the 126th place in the overall rating of road quality (the 146th in 2019), the head of the State Automobile Roads Agency of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) reported, with reference to the international rating Legatum Prosperity Index, published by the educational think tank Legatum Institute.

“In 2020, Ukraine received 20 positions more in the overall rating Quality of Roads, now we are in the 126th place. This means that international experts and analysts positively assess the country’s steps towards the development of road infrastructure,” Ukravtodor reports.

In the Transport rating, the country rose by 12 positions, to the 73rd place; in the Market Access and Infrastructure rating Ukraine takes 77th place (10 positions more).

In general, in the Prosperity Index rating, Ukraine took the 92nd position, having risen by four points compared to 2019 and by 19 positions compared to 2018.

The Legatum Prosperity Index is an integrated indicator that takes into account the country’s economic growth, the level of the educational system, medicine, personal well-being and quality of life, etc. It is annually concluded by the Legatum Institute educational analytical center.

As reported, at the beginning of November, at the final stage of reconstruction in Ukraine (they are being commissioned, completed, or the last layer of asphalt concrete is being laid) there were 3,900 kilometers of roads. According to head of Ukravtodor Oleksandr Kubrakov, out of 100 artificial structures, which the agency planned to repair in 2020, some 78 have already been reconstructed.
