The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) has included three online stores – LitRes, Labirint.ru and Reksoft (all based in Moscow) – in the list of companies, on which additional sanctions are imposed, banning the provision of services allowing users to have access to their websites (litres.ru, labirint.ru and ozon.ru book stores) by Internet providers.

Trade operations restriction is also imposed on three online book stores.

In addition, eight Russian publishing houses were placed to the sanction list, including Publishing house Eksmo, Publishing house AST, CJSC Knizhny Mir, Publishing House Veche, Publishing House Centrpoligraf, Publishing House Yauza and Yauza-Press (all – Moscow), as well Publishing House Piter (St. Petersburg).

Among the restrictions imposed on publishers for a period of three years is the restriction of trade operations, the withdrawal of capital outside Ukraine, the suspension of meeting economic and financial obligations, and other sanctions that comply with the principles of their application established by law.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has issued decree No. 82/2019 enacting the National Security and Defense Council’s (NSDC) decision from March 19, 2019, on the application, lifting and making changes to personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions).

Currently, the sanctions are imposed on 294 legal entities and 848 persons.
