You're reading: Ukraine counting on NATO cybersecurity assistance for elections

Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze has said Ukraine is counting on assistance from NATO to ensure cybersecurity, including the election system before planned elections, and has agreed about cooperation on this issue with a number of NATO member states.

“The Trust Fund on Cyber Defence for Ukraine has completed its first phase. And Ukraine is interested in moving to the second phase. We have decided to move further,” she said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.

Cybersecurity is a key issue as Ukraine will hold two national elections in 2019, presidential and parliamentary, she said.

“That’s why we are counting on the Alliance to help, even though we have also agreed with certain NATO member states bilaterally on this issue,” she said.
