Roman Nasirov, the tax chief on trial for fraud and abuse of office, will remain in charge of the State Fiscal Service after an unsuccessful appeal to overturn his reinstatement.
The Nasirov case has been both long and fraught with macabre details as for example when the official arrived in court on a stretcher in 2017 or in May 2018, when the 37-year-old judge overseeing Nasirov’s case died of an alleged heart attack.
