Kyiv expects NATO member states to confirm support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine at the NATO summit in July, Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO Vadym Prystaiko has said.

“We expect the heads of state to confirm Ukraine’s aspirant status. This is a recognition that we are on the right track and want to become members of the alliance … We also expect all 29 NATO members to confirm once again that they recognize Ukraine’s sovereignty,” Prystaiko said live on Channel 5 on April 18.

At the same time, the diplomat added: “I do not expect that we will become members of the alliance, but other [achievements of Ukraine] are on the table.”

When asked by the presenter whether he counts on Hungary’s consolidated position, he replied: “Yes, also Hungary. Hungary treats our soldiers and takes part in joint exercises. It understands from where tanks may come to its territory. And that’s not Ukraine,” Prystaiko said.
