You're reading: Ukraine exports honey worth almost $9 million in March

Export of natural honey from Ukraine in March 2018 amounted to 4,040 tonnes, which is 3.8 percent more than in the previous month, the press service of state enterprise Derzhzovnishinform has said.

According to the report, the deliveries totaled $8.99 million.

The average export price in March was $2,224 per tonne, which is $40/tonne or 1.8 percent less than in February.

“Some 10,140 tonnes of honey worth $22.824 million were exported in January-March 2018. The average export price for the period was $2,251/tonne. The volume of honey imports in January-March 2018 was only one tonne worth $8,000,” the head of the department for research of the agro-industrial complex and chemical industry, Anton Porembsky, said.

The main importers of Ukrainian honey in January-February of this year were Germany (1,660 tonnes, or 27 percent of all exports for the period), Belgium (1,080 tonnes, or 18 percent), Poland (1,030 tonnes, or 17%), the United States (477 tonnes, or 8 percent, and Lithuania (439 tonnes, or 7 percent).

At the same time, according to the expert, the highest average price was observed for shipments to Switzerland (20 tonnes, $3,346 per tonne), Spain (120 tonnes, $2,612/tonne), Turkey (149 tonnes, $2,438/tonne), Bulgaria (20 tonnes, $2,398/tonne), and Israel (140 tonnes, $2,380/tonne).
