“For Ukraine, citizens in the occupied territories are the greatest value, and we are relying on our partners – the international organizations that work there. […] We are sincerely grateful for the persistent four-year support to our international partners, in particular, the EU and the UN, and also to the European Commission for the provision of humanitarian assistance in the amount of 24 million euro, which was announced today,” Chernysh said after the participation in the International Conference” Eastern Europe: a forgotten humanitarian crisis after four years of conflict” in Brussels on the initiative of the European Commission and the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs of the United Nations, the website of the Minister for Temporary Occupied Territories reported.

EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid Christos Stylianides for his part said: “As the result of the conflict, social infrastructure in the region has been destroyed, especially along the contact line. People and children who are staying there need education and psychosocial support. I express my support to the approaches of the Ministry for Occupied Territories and IDPs in the matters of rendering assistance to the affected population.”

On the whole, according to the Humanitarian Response Plan for 2018, which was prepared by the UN with the support of the Interior Ministry, the amount of international support for this year for solving critical problems of citizens affected by the conflict is $137 million.
