You're reading: Ukraine got access to NATO’s logistics electronic database

An intergovernmental agreement with the NATO Support and Procurement Agency to support joint management of supplies and the subsequent exchange of diplomatic notes has entered into force for Ukraine as an associated state – this gives Ukraine access to a logistical electronic database of NATO.

With the help of this database it will be possible to exchange information between member states on the needs of the Armed Forces in material and technical means and participation in relevant tenders for NATO; to carry out an operational exchange of surplus property among the participating states; to create joint/multinational inventories of material and technical means, the website of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO reported on October 12.

In addition, this access will allow for on-line purchases of a wide range of material and technical equipment (equipment and personal protective equipment for the soldier, field camp equipment, countermeasures to improvised explosive devices and demining, optoelectronic devices, communications equipment, spare parts for weapons and military equipment).

Currently, the issue of Ukraine’s accession to a number of other partnerships of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency is being worked out, which will contribute to a deeper integration of the Ukrainian Armed Forces into the system of material and technical supplies of NATO member states.

Member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense Iryna Friz (Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction) has positively assessed this piece of news, noting that Ukraine is gradually approaching NATO, “should be and will be a member of NATO.”

“Good news! Ukraine is getting closer to NATO step by step and is getting advantages of cooperation with the Alliance. (…) This is another step towards deepening cooperation between Ukraine and NATO,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

She expressed confidence: “Ukraine should be and will be a member of NATO!”
