Ukraine will impose sanctions on archaeologists who have illegally carried out excavations in Russian-occupied Crimea, Ukrainian Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced persons Vadym Chernysh.

“Ukraine is imposing sanctions not only on politicians or businessmen of the Russian Federation. The list also includes archaeologists who have illegally carried out excavations in Crimea. ‘Name and shame’ is a one more principle: we are talking about people violating the regime of the occupied territories and informing organizations who work with them about their bad reputation,” he wrote on Twitter on Dec. 27.
