The Health Ministry is negotiating with companies about the purchase of Remdesivir antiviral medicine for the treatment of patients with coronavirus (COVID-19) disease, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov has said.

“Remdesivir medicine was immediately included in the treatment protocol by Ukrainian experts. I believe that we have good protocol and we can see it by the effectiveness of treatment, that is, by indicators and the percentage of mortality, which is the lowest in Europe. Regarding the use of this medicine, it was not available in terms of trading, as it is produced by the U.S. company. We have already negotiated with companies that have received a license from this U.S. company, and are looking forward to purchasing this medicine. Previously, there is an agreement on its purchase in an amount calculated for the treatment of 8,000 patients,” he said at a press briefing in Kyiv on July 8.
