You're reading: Ukraine interested in military-technical cooperation with Pakistan

Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Taran and Chief of the Army Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan General Qamar Javed Bajwa during the meeting discussed the intensification of interaction between the countries in military and military-technical cooperation.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Qamar Javed Bajwa noted a noticeable increase in the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which resist aggression of the Russian Federation, expressed understanding of Ukraine’s European integration aspirations and assured of its readiness to further support Ukraine in the international arena.

In turn, the Ukrainian Defense Minister said during the meeting that powerful steps in the transformation of the security and defense sector help to contain the aggression of the Russian Federation and further Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine.

Taran confirmed his interest in intensifying interaction in military and military-technical cooperation and informed the Pakistani delegation about the possibilities of enterprises of the domestic military-industrial complex, and the latest developments in military equipment of national production.

“Ukraine and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan continue to deepen cooperation in military-technical areas. Defense cooperation between our countries is the locomotive of bilateral ties and creates favorable preconditions for further intensification of Ukrainian-Pakistani relations,” Taran said.

Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation with Ukraine, noting that the time has come to expand long-term defense cooperation.

In addition, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation between the defense ministries of the two states within the framework of the working group on military and military-technical cooperation, the next meeting of which is scheduled for 2021 in Pakistan.
