Head of the State Border Service of Ukraine Viktor Nazarenko and Commander of the State Border Guard Service of the Lithuanian Interior Ministry Renatas Pozela have signed a cooperation plan for 2017-2018.

“The cooperation plan, which we signed at the end of the meeting, formalizes the terms of cooperation between the border services. Tomorrow, with the participants of the Lithuanian delegation, we plan to discuss in more detail the practical aspects of protecting the sea and land borders,” Nazarenko wrote on the Facebook page on Wednesday after the meeting with his Lithuanian counterpart in Odesa.

According to him, both agencies are facing similar threats: cross-border crime, illegal migration, hybrid external aggression.

“It is easier to overcome these problems if we act together within the framework of a single plan, and this is exactly what we discussed with our Lithuanian counterpart, as well as the experience of protecting the sea borders and the engineering and technical development of the border,” Nazarenko said.
