Ukraine from Nov. 1 to Dec. 7, reduced its natural gas reserves in underground gas storage facilities (UGS) by 7 percent (by 1.534 billion cubic meters), to 20.249 billion cubic meters, according to data from JSC Ukrtransgaz.
Gas taking from the UGS of Ukraine, in particular, on Dec. 7 this year amounted to 70.99 million cubic meters with imports being 4.09 million cubic meters and domestic production of 56.67 million cubic meters.
According to the calculations of the Interfax-Ukraine agency, the current volume exceeds the reserves on Dec. 7, 2018 by 29.8 percent, Dec. 7, 2017 by 28.2 percent, and Dec. 7, 2016 by 53.5 percent.
As reported, during the heating season, which lasted from Nov. 6, 2018 to April 4, gas reserves in the UGS facilities decreased by 8.450 billion cubic meters. Ukraine entered the heating season starting on Nov. 1, 2019/2020 with the maximum reserves over the past ten years in the amount of 21.784 billion cubic meters.
Ukrtransgaz, fully owned by Naftogaz Ukrainy, operates a system of gas pipelines and 12 underground gas storages in the country. Their total capacity is 31 bcm.
