Ukraine reduced transit of natural gas through its gas transportation system (GTS) by 7.1 percent, or 6.677 billion cubic meters (bcm), in 2018 year-on-year to 86.779 bcm, according to operational data from PJSC Ukrtransgaz.

Transit of gas through Ukraine to Europe amounted to 83.839 bcm in 2018 (down 7.6 percent year-on-year) and to Moldova 2.939 bcm (up 8.6 percent), according to Interfax calculations.

In December, gas transit declined by 4.3 percent year-on-year, or 340.1 million cubic meters, to 7.612 bcm, including 7.228 bcm to Europe (down 5 percent year-on-year) and 383.7 million cubic meters to Moldova (up 12.3 percent).

In 2017, Ukraine increased transit of natural gas through its GTS by 13.7 percent, or 11.257 bcm, year-on-year to 93.457 bcm, including 90.749 bcm to Europe and 2.707 bcm to Moldova.

Ukrtransgaz, a 100 percent subsidiary of Naftogaz Ukrainy, operates Ukraine’s system of trunk gas pipelines and 12 underground gas storage facilities.
