You're reading: Ukraine reports 20 attacks on its positions in Donbas on June 15

Russian-backed separatists attacked Ukrainian Army in Donbas zone in the east of Ukraine 20 times from 00:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time on June 15; no casualties have been recorded, the press center of the Ukrainian Military has reported.

“Since the beginning of the day, Russian-backed separatists have violated the ceasefire 20 times. The criminal gangs have repeatedly used artillery weapons banned by the Minsk agreements. They also attacked a town on the frontline,” the Ukrainian Army said in an update on Facebook on June 15 evening.

“There were no casualties among Ukrainian solders as a result of hostilities today,” it said.

The situation along the entire contact line remains tense, the Ukrainian Military HQ said, however, it assured that it was under control.

At around 07.00 in the morning, invaders launched an attack on residential areas of the town of Maryinka in Donetsk region, using multiple artillery rocket systems. Several private houses and adjacent facilities were damaged. “Fortunately, there were no victims among local residents,” the report said.

The Russia-backed separatists used proscribed 120mm mortars in the same sector of the front and outside the village of Pavlopil. The town of Krasnohorivka came under 82mm mortar fire. There were also armed provocations with the use of grenade launchers, large-caliber machine guns and small arms near the villages of Shyrokyne, Vodiane, Lebedynske, Talakivka, and Chermalyk.

In the Donetsk sector, separatist troops mounted a 122mm artillery attack on Ukrainian forces outside the village of Pivdenne before dawn. They used tanks and 120mm mortars to shell Ukrainian strongholds near the village of Kamianka. In the latter part of the day, Ukrainian troops stationed outside the village of Novoluhanske came under 82mm mortar fire, large-caliber machine guns were also used. Grenade launchers and small arms were used to fire on Ukrainian forces near the villages of Verkhniotoretske and Kamianka, and the town of Avdiyivka.

The hot spot in the Luhansk sector was the area near the village of Novozvanivka. What is more, the enemy resorted to anti-tank hand grenades in the village of Malynove. During the daylight hours, there was low-intensity 82mm mortar firing aimed at a stronghold outside the village of Katerynivka.
