Donbas militants attacked Ukrainian positions in the combat zone eight times from 00:00 to 18:00 Kyiv time on Wednesday, April 19, the Ukrainian military headquarters has said.

“There has been de-escalation in the combat zone. Since the beginning of the day, units of the Russian occupation forces have shelled the Ukrainian army’s positions eight times,” the press service of the Ukrainian military headquarters said on Facebook on the evening of April 19.

In particular, Ukrainian troops stationed near the town of Krasnohorivka in the Mariupol sector came under 82mm mortar fire.

“The Marines deployed near the village of Vodiane were attacked by infantry fighting vehicles, while anti-tank grenade launchers, large-caliber machine guns and small arms were used. Automatic grenade launchers were used near the village of Pavlopil,” the Ukrainian military headquarters said.

Guns of enemy infantry fighting vehicles and small arms were used to fire on Ukrainian positions near the village of Shyrokyne, which is located some dozen kilometers from the Ukrainian-controlled strategic port city of Mariupol.

Ukrainian troops near the village of Luhanske in the Donetsk sector came under fire from automatic grenade launchers and small arms.

“Despite the armed provocations by divisions of the Russian occupation forces, the Ukrainian defenders have strictly been abiding by the ceasefire regime, and did not fire back,” the Ukrainian military headquarters said.
