You're reading: Ukraine reports one soldier wounded amid 29 separatist attacks in Donbas

Russia-led forces have mounted 29 attacks on Ukrainian army positions in Donbas in the past 24 hours, with one Ukrainian soldier reported as wounded in action (WIA), the press center of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) has said.

“Russia-led forces used fire on our positions 29 times: Russia-led forces used artillery and mortars three times. The units of the JFO did not allow the Russia-backed separatists to improve tactical position, conducted active defense and gave an adequate response to  Russia-led forces (…) During the fighting over the past day one Ukrainian soldier received a fragmentation wound,” the press center of Ukraine’s Joint Forces Operation said in an update on Facebook as of 07:00 a.m. Kyiv time on June 22, 2018.

Fighting continued near the villages of Novotoshkivske and Stanytsia Luhanska, which are in the Luhansk sector, as well as near the village of Zaitseve, which is in the Horlivka sector. Hostilities also continued in the Donetsk sector near the villages of Starohnativka and Novotroyitske, and the towns of Krasnohorivka and Maryinka.

“The situation was the most tense in the Mariupol sector in the last day, namely near the villages of Lebedynske, Pavlopil and Hnutove,” the report reads.

According to intelligence reports, Russia-led forces suffered losses in the last day: three separatists were killed and three others were wounded.
