You're reading: Ukraine sees 1.2% rise in industrial output in May 2017 year-over-year

Industrial production in Ukraine in May 2017 grew by 1.2% year-over-year, against a 6.1% decrease in April 2017 from April 2016 and a 2.7% decrease in March 2017 from March 2016, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

The agency said that with adjustment for the effect of calendar days, industrial production in May 2017 remained unchanged compared to May 2016.

The return to positive dynamics in May was due to 6.1% growth in the processing industry, while the mining industry posted a 4.6% decline along with a 9.6% decrease in the supply of electricity, gas, steam and conditioned air.

Industrial production in May 2017 from April 2017 grew by 3.4%, a seasonally adjusted growth was 1.6%, the State Statistics Service said.

Industrial production in Ukraine in the five months fell by 1.3% year-over-year. The mining industry posted a 7.4% decrease, while the supply of electricity, gas, steam and conditioned air declined by 5%. At the same time, the processing industry showed a 2.6% increase.

The State Statistics Committee notes that in January-May 2017, the positive result in industry was recorded in Zhytomyr region (17%), Odesa region (15.1%), Vinnytsia region (12.9%), Kirovohrad region (10.8%), Volyn and Kharkiv regions (8.7%), Zaporizhia region (7.5%), Ternopil region (6.8%), Ivano-Frankivsk region (4.1%).
