You're reading: Ukraine sees over 30 percent rise in gas transit

Ukraine in January and February 2017 increased transit of natural gas through its gas transportation system by 31.4 percent (3.949 billion cubic meters, bcm) compared to January-February 2016, to 16.541 billion cubic meters, according to live data from PJSC Ukrtransgaz.

Gas transit through Ukraine to Europe last month amounted to 15.794 bcm and to Moldova – 746.5 million cubic meters (mcm).

Transit in February 2017 grew by 24.1 percent or 1.481 bcm year-over-year, to 7.628 bcm. Gas transit through Ukraine to Europe last month was 7.292 bcm and to Moldova – 335.7 mcm.

As reported, Ukraine in 2016 increased transit of natural gas through its gas transportation system by 22.5 percent (15.121 bcm) compared with 2015, to 82.2 bcm.

Total volume of Russian gas transit through the Ukrainian gas transportation system in 2016 was the highest in the last three years.

Ukrtransgaz, 100 percent owned by Naftogaz Ukrainy, operates a system of trunk gas pipelines and 12 underground gas storage facilities in the country.
