Ukraine sees full political support in the United States in providing defensive weapons to Ukraine, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze has said.

“As far as I know from my trip to the United States, from the visit of the president of Ukraine to the United States, when he was holding talks on this issue among other things, there was full support at a high political level in the U.S. in providing Ukraine with lethal weapons,” Klympush-Tsintsadze said on Channel 5 on October 11.

At the same time, she said that the final decision in this matter should be taken by U.S. President Donald Trump. “I hope that it is not far off and yet it will be accepted because there is full and bipartisan support by the Congress, and there is support at the leadership level of both the defense and foreign policy departments and the leaders of the United States National Security Council,” the deputy premier said.

She said that she would not mention the date when the weapons could arrive in Ukraine. “But there is a very substantive discussion about specific types of weapons,” Klympush-Tsintsadze said.
