Prospects for possible further cooperation between the countries, in particular in the field of aviation and maritime transport, have been discussed by Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Krykliy and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South to Ukraine Andre Johannes Groenewald.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure, during a meeting held in Kyiv on Monday, the head of the Ukrainian department informed the ambassador of Ukraine’s interest in developing cooperation with South Africa and further deepening cooperation in the field of transport. In addition, Ukraine is interested in the overall implementation of projects and the development of cooperation in the infrastructure sector.
“The minister emphasized the importance of continuing the joint work of both countries on the draft intergovernmental agreement on air services. The final text of this document has already been agreed upon, and now the State Aviation Service of Ukraine is translating it for its further domestic processing,” the message says.
It is noted that the parties also discussed possible joint steps in the development of the field of maritime cooperation. Krykliy positively noted the desire of both states to improve the current regulatory framework.
According to the agency, currently Ukraine and South Africa are working on two draft agreements: an intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and South Africa on merchant shipping, as well as a memorandum on the recognition of diplomas/certificates of seafarers-specialists.i
