You're reading: Ukraine tests new missile

Ukraine successfully tested a new missile on Nov. 16, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.

“Wonderful news from new Ukrainian missile tests. All launches today have been successful. The result is striking: with a firing range of 60 kilometers the missile demonstrated a very high [level of] precision,” Poroshenko wrote on his Facebook page on Nov. 16.

Reports do not say exactly what missile was tested but user comments point to precision 300-millimeter ‘Vilha’ missiles for ‘Smerch’ multiple rocket launchers.

The first tests of the ‘Vilha’ missile were carried out in March this year. Earlier this year it was reported that the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council had decided to create new missile armament under the Vilha project to upgrade ‘Smerch’ multiple rocket launchers.
