Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak has reassured NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg of the readiness to increase its contribution to NATO operations and Kyiv’s determination to become a member in the alliance’s collective security and defense system, a Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesperson said.

“We are aware that the future of the Ukrainian state is inextricably linked with membership in the alliance’s collective security defense system. Despite the complicated situation in eastern Ukraine, our contribution to the alliance’s operations will be preserved and increased. We are also ready to continue enlisting Ukrainian units for joint military drills and combat-training events. Our troops are ready to share experience in hybrid warfare,” Poltorak said at a meeting with Stoltenberg at the NATO headquarters in Brussels on June 7.

The defense minister briefed the secretary general on the military-political situation in Ukraine, and the situation in Donbas, and progress in the current reform of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
