Ukrainian society was deeply confused by the latest development of the visa-free regime implementation and its further delay. As reported, on Nov. 24 Ukraine-EU summit held in Brussels, but the long awaited expectations of the visa-free regime implementation was not even put on the agenda (although it was promised earlier). The announced reason was the suspension mechanism, which still was not approved. EU parliament was reported to discuss visa-free regime in January. “Ukraine must not suffer from EU problems,” First Deputy Speaker of Verkhovna Rada Iryna Herashchenko reacted then.
Weeks later LIBE Committee approved visa suspension mechanism, after that, a new regime was promised to be considered by EU Parliament in February, and to enter into force in several months.
