Positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donbas have come under fire 40 times in the past 24 hours, the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) headquarters said on Facebook on Tuesday morning.

Twenty-four violations of the ceasefire were recorded in the sector near the Ukrainian-controlled strategic port city of Mariupol, where large-caliber machine guns, grenade launchers and small arms were fired on the villages of Hnutove, Vodiane and Hranytne. Anti-aircraft guns, machine guns and 82mm mortars were used to shell the towns of Krasnohorivka and Maryinka, and the village of Pavlopil, the press center said. Strikes involving 82mm mortars and banned 120mm mortars, grenade launchers and small arms continued against Ukrainian military positions in the vicinity of the village of Shyrokyne, it said.

Ukrainian positions in the Donetsk sector came under fire 13 times, and strikes using machine guns continued there, it said.

Instances of shelling involving banned 120mm mortars, grenade launchers, machine guns and small arms were recorded near the village of Zaitseve, and banned 122mm cannon artillery weapons were also used to shell the town of Avdiyivka, the press center said.

Three provocations were recorded in the Luhansk sector, where machine guns and 82mm mortars were used near the village of Novo-Oleksandrivka, while militia snipers operated and grenade launchers were used to fire on the village of Stanytsia Luhanska, it said.
