You're reading: Ukraine’s Ambassador to US discusses increase in military support for Ukraine in Senate

Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly has held a meeting with Republican Senator Roy Blunt of Missouri, at which the parties discussed the prospect of increased spending in the U.S. budget for support programs for Ukraine in 2020, the Ukrainian Embassy to the United States has reported.

“Considering that Senator Blunt is a member of the Appropriations Committee, a separate topic of discussion was the prospects for increasing spending in the U.S. budget for support programs for Ukraine in 2020, primarily in the field of security and defense,” the Embassy said on its Facebook page on Wednesday night.

In addition, Chaly briefed the senator with the current situation in the territories of Donbas, temporarily occupied by Russia and in Crimea, and stressed the importance of further strengthening the Ukrainian-American strategic partnership.

The Ambassador of Ukraine stressed the invariance of the course of the Ukrainian state and civil society through democratic changes, reforms and in the strategic direction of integration into the EU and NATO.
