The State Border Service of Ukraine and the Law Enforcement Protection Service of the National Defense Service of Hungary are considering the possibility of signing a joint document on cooperation in preventing and combating corruption.

The prospect of cooperation between the two departments was discussed in Budapest at a meeting of Ihor Kryzhanivsky, the head of the internal security department of the State Border Service of Ukraine, with director of the Law Enforcement Protection Service of the National Defense Service of Hungary, Jeno Szabo. This Hungarian unit is the main body that fights corruption in the country, the press service of the State Border Service of Ukraine reported on Wednesday.

The parties noted the need to share experiences and improve the effectiveness of activities at checkpoints across the Ukrainian-Hungarian state border.

“Ihor Kryzhanivsky and Jeno Szabo were in favor of mutual assistance in conducting investigations into corruption and other official offenses committed on both sides of the border. In addition, the leaders discussed the possibility of signing a joint document on further cooperation, in which clear steps of cooperation between the State Administration Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the National Protection Service of Hungary in the field of preventing and combating corruption were outlined,” the message says.
