The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine has demanded to stop pressure on journalists in connection with providing the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine with access to their phone numbers, the union’s website says.

“The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine is outraged by the decision of the Ukrainian court that granted the Prosecutor General’s Office access to the information of phone number of journalist Natalia Sedletska over the past year and a half. The union demands to stop pressure on the chief editor of the Schemes investigation program of the online publication Radio Svoboda,” the organization stated.

“The campaign of intimidation and pressure on inconvenient journalists continues in Ukraine. Instead of public reporting on the state of investigations into the crimes against journalists, the Prosecutor General’s Office is prowling through personal correspondence and contacts of the leader of the Schemes program,” chairman of the union Serhiy Tomilenko said.
