The government of Canada has handed a modern digital radiography system, Calypso, over to the State Border Service of Ukraine’s Odesa hospital.

The official transfer took place on June 13, as part of the international technical assistance project on stepping up security of Ukraine’s borders, the service said.

The event was attended by head of the Ukrainian State Border Service Viktor Nazarenko, Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine Roman Waschuk, representatives of the hospital and other officials.

The Calypso system allows horizontal and vertical examination. Its output capacity is from two to three times greater than that of the previous device used by the hospital, and the quality of digital images is also significantly better.

Ukraine has already obtained assistance worth about Hr 14.3 million from Canada since August 2014 under the project.
