The height of the Chaplynka state television tower in Kherson region is to be increased to 133 meters in the first half of 2018, which will help broadcast Ukrainian television and radio programs to Krasnoperekopsk district in Russia-occupied Crimea, a member of the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting, Serhiy Kostynsky, has said.
“As part of the draft strategy developed by the commission on ensuring the stable functioning of the national television and radio broadcasting system under the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, it is planned to increase the height of the state tower in Chaplynka in Kherson region from 92 to 133 meters during the first half of 2018,” Kostynsky wrote on his Facebook page on Dec. 16.
According to him, the signal from the Chaplynka tower will cover the Chaplynka and Kalanchak districts of Kherson region and the Krasnoperekopsk district of Russia-occupied Crimea.
“Thus, Ukrainian television and radio broadcasting to the territory of Crimea in 2018 will be carried out from two towers – Chonhar and Chaplynka. The development of television and radio broadcasting in these areas will be carried out by providing the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting with permits for temporary broadcasting, as is done in the ATO zone,” Kostynsky said.
According to him, it is planned to create an additional digital multiplex with the purpose of organizing the powerful broadcasting of the first five Ukrainian TV channels in the direction of Armiansk and Krasnoperekopsk and the analogue broadcasting of two Ukrainian TV channels and about seven Ukrainian radio stations in the direction of Crimea.
