You're reading: Ukrainian Embassy expects US to continue steps to toughen sanctions against Russia

The Ukrainian Embassy in the United States has expressed its hope that Washington will continue taking steps to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including those stipulated in the Countering America’s Adversaries through Sanctions Act (CAATSA).

“We hope that the U.S. Administration will continue to take strong steps in supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, including those envisaged by the CAATSA,” the Embassy said on its Facebook page on January 30.

The Embassy recalled Provisions of the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act of 2017 (CAATSA) foresee further strengthening of sanction regime against Russia, including imposing additional sanctions against Russian special crude oil projects, financial institutions, significant corruption in the Russian Federation, serious human rights abusers, Russian intelligence and defense sectors, development of pipelines and privatization.
