You're reading: Date of Poroshenko-Trump meeting still under discussion

A specific date of a meeting between Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and U.S. President Donald Trump has yet to be determined, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said.

“We are currently discussing various options. I can’t say more today not to maintain an intrigue, so to say,” the minister said in an interview with the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia. Ukraine (Mirror Weekly) newspaper on Saturday.

He was answering a question whether it is possible today to name a specific date of the meeting between the Ukrainian and U.S. leaders.

Klimkin said that his ministry is also selecting dates for a meeting with new U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and several other representatives of the Trump administration.

“We are currently selecting the date of a most likely meeting at once with Tillerson and newly-appointed National Security Advisor Herbert McMaster and new Secretary for Defense Ministry (James) Mattis, because there are many aspects that need to be discussed with various members of the new U.S. administration,” he said.
