The leaders of the Normandy format countries (France, Germany, Russia, Ukraine) will have a telephone conversation in the near future, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said.

“I know that a telephone conversation is planned very soon, in the near future. The objective of this telephone conversation is to discuss security issues and the freeing of hostages,” Klimkin said in Kyiv on August 22, when asked by Interfax whether a meeting between the leaders of the Normandy format countries was possible.

More detailed information on the upcoming telephone conversation will be available soon, he said.

A meeting between the Normandy format leaders is still being discussed, Klimkin said.

“As concerns a meeting in person, this issue is still being discussed. We will arrange this only when we see how we can move ahead,” he said.
